Employee Timesheets

Hi,

I am new to sheetgo and what I have seen and tried so far has been great, I love the idea of it.

I am looking at ways to improve how we obtain timesheets from staff and saw your timesheet template, which is great when you look at it as an employee, however, I find the master sheet a little confusing. Why on the master sheet does it not shows the times and total hours as it does on the employee sheet? Why is it my eye’s just a random value that only calculates the total hours on the master sheet dashboard?

If there a way to simplify the master sheet to show as it does on the employee sheet?

Sean Hi Sean,

You completely make sense in your observations about the master sheet and thanks for bringing this to our attention.

What happened there was: The transfer formatting function is not allowed when you have multiple files as a source, this means that the time format is not being transferred from the Employee sheet to the “Manager sheet” (let’s call the master sheet this way ;) )

To correct this, please, follow the steps below:

1) Select all columns

2) Go to FORMAT - NUMBER - CUSTOM DATE AND TIME

3) Pick up the time with this format, please and just click on apply.

All information should be fixed!!

If I didn’t need the lunch start and end information if I just removed those cells from the employee sheets and the manager sheet would it break everything?

If you delete it from the master sheet you won’t break anything.

But on the employee sheet, in the header there’s a formula that does the counting:

Are your employees take some lunchtime? 15, 20 minutes, or even one hour?

Due to the type of work, the employees do in social care it’s pretty impossible to accurately keep track of breaks so it’s not something we do.

I wish I wasn’t a complete novice in Excel or Google sheets so thank you for the help :D

If I wanted just Time in, a drop-down of names next to that the employee could pick from, and then Time out, Hours worked how easy would that in theory be for someone like me who is clueless?

Sean You could remove those columns as @Karoline from Sheetgo said.
You would still need to edit the formula slightly. But it’s not really complicated - albeit slightly scary the first time around.

The formula would go something like:
={"Hours worked"; ARRAYFORMULA(IF(A2:A="","",C2:C-B2:B))}

This assumes Column B would be Time In, Column C would be Time Out and Column D would be Hours worked (meaning this formula would go in cell D1)
